· A knife that contains a spring, detent, or other mechanism designed to create a bias toward closure of the blade and that requires exertion applied to the blade by hand, wrist, or arm to overcome the bias toward closure to assist in opening the knife.

While like all the products from knifes of Alaska the quility is there but if you have large hands the handle and blade both need to be a inch longer , Maybe they will come out with a new model that fits better in larger hands, Total Recon Patrol would be a good name. If you have medium to small hands yes , this is a good knife, but if you have large hands or will be wearing gloves, I would have to take a pass
